Felicity Merriman is the fourth doll to be added to American Girl's historical doll collection. The Felicity doll has coppery red hair, bright green eyes that open and close, and a winning smile. Felicity's body is soft cloth and she has vinyl limbs and head. Her head can turn from side to side and her limbs have sturdy ball joints that make them posable. She wears a lavender dress with white stripes and embroidered flowers, as well as a shift (historical underwear), black shoes with buckles, and white stockings. Felicity also has an accessory set that includes a lavender choker necklace that matches her dress, a ruffled "mob cap" hat, garters to hold her stockings up, embroidered drawstring purse, ribbons, lace-edged handkerchief, and replica coin.
Felicity's Special Things
There are many other beautiful outfits made especially for Felicity, such as her yellow tea-lesson gown, pink birthday dress with flowered apron, and forest-green riding habit. You can enhance playtime, or make a lovely display with Felicity in the center, with extra accessories and furniture designed just for her, patterned after items from the 1700s. Some of her accessories are a china tea set, her pet lamb named Posie, and her fashion doll that wears the same holiday dress that Felicity wears at Christmastide. Her furniture collection includes items like a canopy bed with red and white curtains and embroidered bedspread, a dark wood "tilt-top" tea table and chairs, and clothes press (similar to a chest of drawers.)
Felicity also has a few unique items that no other American Girl has, such as a wooden horse-drawn carriage and a baby doll that represents Felicity's baby sister Polly! The carriage has plush seats, curtains at the windows, and glass lanterns on the front. It's painted a bright sunshine yellow and can hold both Felicity and her best friend, Elizabeth. The horse that pulls it is Felicity's copper-colored mare, Penny. Penny has her own foal as well, named Patriot. Baby Polly is an adorable 9-inch doll that wears a white christening gown and bonnet. She comes in a wooden cradle that includes a mattress and blanket.
Meet Felicity's Friend Elizabeth
Felicity's collection includes a companion doll of the same size named Elizabeth Cole. She is Felicity's best friend, and she has her own special clothing and accessories. She even has her own book, Very Funny, Elizabeth! Girls can have extra fun when they play with both dolls at once.
Read Felicity's Stories
You can read all about Felicity and her life in Virginia in her six-book series, and also a special mystery book! She is a brave girl growing up in Williamsburg, Virginia, right before the Revolutionary War begins and America becomes a country. She works hard at her etiquette lessons, lovingly cares for her horse Penny, and struggles to know her own mind when she is caught between friends and family members with differing political views. Felicity is also a loving girl and does her best to help the people around her. She even learns the value of loving her enemies, and how it can benefit her! Her books are full of adventure and are a fun way to learn about colonial history. At the back of each book, there is a "Looking Back" section that tells a little about real life during Felicity's time.
